With the TDS 50 M the desired temperature can be adjusted steplessly as required via the integrated thermostat. For higher point-to-point heat, the heating output can be increased in two stages to up to 9 kW. If necessary, the blower can also be used in the pure fan mode without heating.
Powerful heating with the TDS 50 M with high voltage current, but instead of a conventional heating coil, a long-life PTC ceramic heating element is supplied with energy, which results not only in a more homogenous warm air flow with a lower noise level in a direct comparison of performance – the ceramic PTC register also offers you many additional advantages:
PTC ceramic heating elements are more durable and more robust than devices with heating wires or heating coils. In addition, PTC batteries automatically regulate the power consumption depending on the ambient temperature and are thus automatically protected against overheating. For this reason, the PTC heat batteries do not have to be cooled by strong air supply, which allows for the installation of more turbulent blowers, which are generally quieter.
In combination with the large heating surface, TDS-M heaters generate a pleasantly homogeneous, draft-free hot air flow in a quiet way. In addition, no dust is burnt in this technology, which means that the air is not contaminated with additional fine dust – ideal for applications in inhabited areas.
The safe heating operation even during continuous operation is not a problem with The TDS 50 M: an overheating protection is integrated and the fan motor is equipped with thermal protection and an automatic after-cooling function, which keeps the fan in operation for a safe cooling down after the device is shut down. As an additional safety feature, the integrated ceramic heating element also increases the standing stability of this heating fan because of the design.

Faster air heating – more consistent room temperature
Trotec heaters with PTC ceramic heating elements (A) are characterized not only by a faster heating behavior compared to conventional heating coil technology (B). As a result of the method, differences in the response behavior of the heating elements also occur.
Although the thermostat control of both devices is implemented by a two-position controller to maintain the selected target temperature (orange), the corresponding temperature adjustment for devices with heating coils is significantly slower and with greater deviations from the desired target temperature. The reason for this is the different current conduction characteristics of the heating elements:
If the current flows through heating coils, they are, once warmed, always the same temperature. In order to regulate the desired room temperature, the supply of electricity is then interrupted, whereby the coil cools down, and is activated again later by the thermostat, so that it is fully heated again until the next shutdown when the set target temperature is reached.
This “on / off” process results in considerably greater temperature fluctuations than with ceramic heating elements, since these have an integrated temperature self-regulation. The hotter PTCs become, the greater their current-conducting resistance, whereby less current can flow through the heating element and the heating power thereof drops correspondingly, which results in significantly lower temperature fluctuations and generally also less on / off times in thermostat-controlled operation.
For this reason ceramic heaters can produce more consistent room temperatures for temperature-sensitive production processes as well as a more comfortable working environment.
